Young, fresh, different - this could be the motto of the six Swiss guys from Harlekin. Their debut „In Disguise“ stands out with its punky mixture of rock ´n´ roll which commemorates past decades; pervaded by odd singing and guitar solos.
Too bad that the central thread – if you want to call it like that – runs through the whole material and thus creates a certain monotony. Also the singing style needs getting used to because sometimes the singer loses the tune, which can´t be saved by the instrumental efforts of the rest of the band either. Only exception: „Behind The Mask“, a ballad with depth and keyboard sequences as well as convincing guitar parts.
Altogether, however, a solid debut album with good ideas that whets the appetite for more. We want to hear from you, guys!
