Almost 1,5 years after their debut EP, Fall of Atlas, Whorion released their first full-length album called 7th Sector. 1,5 years are quite a long time between an EP and an album, so did the Finnish guys work on their weaknesses, the EP had revealed? No, they did not! The songs are still dominated by blast beats and staccato riffing and there is almost no variation. Sometimes there are some hints of a good melody line but only via synths. Why not play a nice lead guitar to the riffs? It would add a new dimension to the songs and would make them more colorful and versatile. Concerning the synths: The exaggerated arrangements of the EP are a bit reduced. This is good because they now fit better to the songs. Although I love great and detailed orchestral arrangements, I think, this is a step into the right direction. My criticism from January 2014 still stands, though, but I´m sure that this band has potential. Immaculate, for instance, is a nice examples of how it can be done. More of that and also more courage for melodies – that´s my advice.
